We are finally about to get a proper new look at Grand Theft Auto 6, and this time you won’t have to squint past a meme coin advert on leaked footage to see it. Whatever your views on the nonsensical barrage of leaks we have had this last week, it’s almost time for them not to matter. Rockstar’s dream unveiling may not have been some crank doing doughnuts or using binoculars in a second-hand game shop, but we soon get to see the real, albeit probably sanitised version of Rockstar’s vision.

What we get won’t be how we play the game, though, because for most of us, donuts and drive-bys are what we do in GTA. We still don’t know exactly what we are getting, but we do know when we will have seen it. But expect a super high-level of polished presentation, and no nudist colony in sight.

Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look premieres tomorrow, August 27, and Rockstar is doing things a little differently, and while not everybody is happy about putting it behind an effective paywall for six hours, well, I will remind you all ultimately, Grand Theft Auto 6 is only a game, so chill out. Netflix gets the presentation first, with everyone else forced to wait another six hours before it appears on YouTube.

So, unless you already have a Netflix subscription, avoiding GTA 6 spoilers for most of Thursday evening might suddenly become your latest gaming challenge.

What time does GTA 6: An Extended Look start?

The first showing of GTA 6: An Extended Look begins on Netflix at 3pm ET / 12pm PT on August 27, which works out at 8pm BST in the UK.

Six hours later, the presentation will be released on Rockstar Games’ official YouTube channel and the GTA 6 website at 9pm ET / 6pm PT.

Unfortunately for anybody in Britain who doesn’t have Netflix, that means staying awake until 2am BST on August 28 if you want to watch it the second it hits YouTube, although.. history tells us – leaks.

Rockstar hasn’t revealed exactly how long the Extended Look will run, but this is expected to be considerably more substantial than another standard trailer.

It also arrives at a particularly interesting moment. As we reported earlier today, Rockstar has finally addressed the recent wave of leaked GTA 6 footage, describing seeing parts of the game emerge this way as “heartbreaking” for the team, although probably not as heartbreaking as when they all get laid off in December.

Tomorrow’s presentation will finally allow Rockstar to show us the game exactly as intended – and after years of trailers, screenshots, speculation, leaks and people analysing the sound of car trunks closing, an extended look at the actual game feels long overdue, and I still think it will surprise us.

Grand Theft Auto 6 launches on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox.
