A 15-year-old Toronto boy is facing four serious charges including assault with a weapon after nine schools in the Riverdale area were locked down Wednesday morning.
Toronto Police said, at around 9:25 a.m., officers responded to a call for a person with a gun in the Gerrard St. E. and Broadview Ave. area.
It’s alleged the accused and the victim were involved in a verbal confrontation outside a school in the area before the accused displayed what appeared to be a firearm and then fled on foot.
Following that incident, nine schools in the area were placed in a hold and secure or shelter in place, which was reportedly lifted by 1:30 p.m.
Investigators were able to identify the accused, who surrendered himself. It was determined that the firearm was a BB gun, cops said.
The male teen was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carry concealed weapon, assault with a weapon, and have face masked/disguised.

FEMALES SOUGHT IN HAMILTON
Hamilton Police are seeking the public’s help to identify two female suspects following an alleged assault that left a woman with serious injuries two months ago.
Police say, at around 10:35 p.m. on July 17, officers were called to a residence on Market St., near Caroline St. N., following a report of an assault.
According to police, a 47-year-old woman from Hamilton was standing outside the residence and alleged she was approached and confronted by two unknown females who assaulted her.
The victim sustained serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital where she received medical treatment that required surgery.
Officers conducted a search of the surrounding area but the two suspects were not located, cops said.
Investigators described the first suspect as a white female with a heavy build, approximately 15 to 24 years of age, with long black hair and wearing a black shirt and black shorts.
The second suspect is described as a white female with a medium build and wearing white or grey shorts and a tank top.
Police ask anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information about the identities of the suspects are asked to contact Det. Const. Greg Sullivan at 905-546-3821.
MAN, 62, ACCUSED OF WHITBY SEX ASSAULT
A 62-year-old Markham man is facing charges following a sexual assault investigation in Whitby.
Durham Regional Police say, on Aug. 11, it was reported that a 16-year-old male had been sexually assaulted while employed at a pharmacy in the area of Taunton Rd. E. and Garden St.
According to police, the victim reported that while working at the pharmacy, he was touched inappropriately multiple times by the manager.
On Wednesday, police charged Sampath Perera with sexual assault and sexual exploitation.
Investigators say there are concerns there may be other victims and have released a photo of the accused.

ARREST AFTER CRUISER DAMAGE
A 29-year-old Brock man is facing charges after police say assistance from the public led to his arrest.
Durham Regional Police say, at around 11:20 p.m. on Saturday, a male suspect was in the area of the Beaverton Arena in Brock when he allegedly urinated on the driver’s side door of a marked police cruiser and damaged both windshield wipers before leaving the area.
On Wednesday, police said the suspect was identified with assistance from a Help Solve a Crime update and taken into custody in Scugog.
Christopher Alexander Lewicki is charged with mischief-cause property damage under $5,000.

COPS WARN OF OVERNIGHT THEFTS IN NEWMARKET
Police north of Toronto say they are reminding residents to take precautions when leaving valuables in unattended vehicles following an increase of overnight thefts in Newmarket.
York Regional Police say the recent incidents involve suspects being observed overnight in Newmarket neighbourhoods between Bathurst St. and Leslie St., and Mulock Dr. and Green Lane.
According to police, they approach vehicles parked on driveways and residential streets, enter unlocked vehicles, and steal valuables.
Thieves commonly target cash, wallets, credit and bank cards, and other small items of value, cops said, adding these types of thefts occur throughout York Region.
Police say they are reminding residents to be cautious and protect themselves by always locking their vehicle, making sure the windows are rolled up, and never leaving keys behind.
They also say if you have a garage, park inside and lock the vehicle as well as garage doors, or keep your vehicle in a well-lit area and consider installing security cameras.
Additionally, police advise residents to not leave anything valuable, including identification, wallets or cash, inside unattended vehicles.
