Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued two people abducted by terrorists along the Anka–Gadan Manya Road in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The rescue followed a swift response to an attack on two travellers on a motorcycle on September 4, 2026. Military authorities said the troops were on routine patrol when they spotted armed terrorists assaulting the travellers.
They quickly moved to the scene, forcing the terrorists to abandon their victims and flee into the surrounding bush. The two victims were secured unharmed.
Security forces have since stepped up patrols and operations in the area to limit terrorist movement and protect residents and road users.
Officials said the intensified presence aims to strengthen security along major routes and forms part of ongoing efforts under Operation FANSAN YAMMA to disrupt terrorist activities, safeguard communities, and restore free movement across affected parts of Zamfara State.
