Netflix has another Turkish thriller quietly making waves, and it’s starting to leave several familiar names in the dust. The series fuses domestic drama with buried secrets, putting a new nanny at the heart of a situation that quickly spirals.

When she meets Nazlı, the woman appears to offer exactly the help the family needs. But the seemingly convenient arrangement soon brings hidden tensions into Funda’s home.
The big twist comes through Funda’s husband, İlker. He reveals that he previously had a passionate affair with Nazlı. What first looks like a lucky break for a struggling mother quickly raises questions about Nazlı’s ulterior motives.
That mystery appears to be helping the series attract attention on Netflix in the United States. As per Flix Patrol, Not a Stranger currently sits at No. 4 on the platform’s Top 10 movies chart, up four spots from its previous position at No. 8. It has moved ahead of I Survived a Serial Killer, The Perfect Lie, Death of the Pastor’s Wife, The Gentlemen, Mark Rober’s CrunchLabs, and The Doll.
Behind the camera, Fi director Mert Baykal is calling the shots, with Tuğba Doğan handling both writing and creation duties. Elçin Sangu leads the cast as Funda, joined by Melis Sezen as Nazlı and Ozan Dolunay as İlker. Cemal Hünal, Efe Taşdelen, Mine Teber, Nergis Öztürk, Arbil Tabur, Esra Şahin, and twins Ada and Arya Özdemir, who play Mavi, round out the lineup.
The Turkish thriller currently sits at a modest 5.3 rating on IMDb, despite its strong run on the platform’s U.S. chart. It also has an original story rather than a novel behind it, so there is no book ending for fans to peek at. For now, Netflix is the place to catch the series.
