This 1968 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 was modified in 2010 with the installation of a 350ci Chevrolet V8 featuring a Holley 650 carburetor, an Edelbrock aluminum air cleaner, and electronic ignition. Additional modifications include a four-speed automatic transmission, 15″ steel wheels, lifted suspension, power steering and disc brakes, AutoMeter gauges, and a Bestop soft top. Refinished in white, the truck is further equipped with locking front hubs, Bestop front seats, rear jump seats, front and rear seat belts, a roll cage, and an Alpine marine stereo. The truck was listed on BaT in July 2020, and purchased by the current owner in 2025. Subsequent work totaled over 100 hours of labor and involved overhauling the fueling system, changing the powertrain lubricants, replacing the tires, and more. With history reported in California, Montana, and New York, this modified FJ40 is offered by the seller on behalf of its owner with service records, dynamometer reports, spare parts and accessories, and New York registration in the owner’s name.
The truck underwent a color change to white under prior ownership and features a black Bestop soft top and doors, dual side mirrors, a tubular-steel front bumper, a rear spare carrier, rear swing-out doors, and a hitch receiver. The seller notes chipped paint along with rust on some of the hardware.
Black-finished 15″ steel wheels were fitted with 265/75 Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S tires in October 2025, and a matching spare setup is secured at the rear. The truck is equipped with manually locking front hubs, and JT Outfitters power disc brakes and an Advance Adapters Saginaw power-steering kit are in place. The lifted suspension is equipped with a Rancho steering stabilizer and shock absorbers up front in addition to Rough Country shock absorbers out back.
The interior floor and side panels have been coated with bedliner material, and Bestop front bucket seats have been fitted along with three-point seat belts. Rear jump seats sourced from a later FJ40 have also been installed, and additional features include rear lap belts, a padded roll cage, a fire extinguisher, and a Tuffy locking center console with a Bluetooth-equipped Kenwood digital-media marine stereo.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames AutoMeter instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates 11k miles, approximately 2,500 of which were added under current ownership. Total chassis mileage is unknown. The horn and windshield wiper system have been repaired.
The rebuilt 350ci Chevrolet V8 was installed in 2010 and features Sealed Power pistons, an Edelbrock aluminum air cleaner, a rebuilt Holley 650 carburetor, electronic ignition, and a high-compression starter. A Denso high-torque starter, an HEI distributor, and a heavy-duty aluminum radiator and fan have also been installed, along with headers from Advance Adaptors. The battery was most recently replaced in June 2023. Service under current ownership has included wiring repairs, re-plumbing the fueling system, heat-wrapping the headers, and replacing the fuel and water pumps as well as header gaskets and battery-cable ends.
Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a Turbo Hydra-Matic 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission and an Advance Adapters two-speed transfer case. The fluids in the transmission, transfer case, and differentials were changed in 2025. The aftermarket fuel-level sensor does not fully seal, and fuel leaks if the tank is topped off.
Metal doors are included in the sale, as are the spare parts and accessories shown in the gallery.
This vehicle does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue them for vehicles of its age. It is being sold on its transferable New York registration, which serves as an ownership document in that state.
