A suspect who sped through a crash scene in a stolen car in Ohio, and then led cops on a high-speed chase after stealing a police cruiser before crashing the vehicle into a home, has added more charges to his lengthy rap sheet, Dayton police said.

Dashcam video released by the Dayton Police Department captured the frightening incident which happened late at night on Sept. 3.

In the clip, the stolen Toyota SUV whisked past officers responding to a crash at an intersection, with the car clipping a raised centre median and knocking down a street sign as it continued travelling down the road.

Police are then seen pursuing the car careening down a residential street, with one officer in a cruiser noting, “There’s too many cars here.”

The cop then uses his cruiser to perform a PIT maneouvre, causing the Toyota to spinout, with the driver running to a home’s backyard.

Four officers are seen running after the man, but cops arriving at the scene appear to see him back on the street out of camera view.

Moments later, officers are heard shouting, and a police cruiser is seen speeding through the front lawns of the homes, stopping after crashing into another police vehicle.

Police bodycam footage showed several officers pointing their guns at the man, yelling at him to get out of the car.

Ignoring their orders, the vehicle crashed into another cruiser while leaving the scene.

The clip then showed footage taken from the stolen cruiser’s dashcam, showing the vehicle speeding down the street, stopping only when it crashed head-on into a home.

Once the suspect is cuffed, the video showed officers checking on the home’s residents, who sounded startled by the late-night crash that left a massive hole in their wall.

Police said seven officers were injured while taking the suspect into custody, while the two people inside the home were taken to a local hospital where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said it later learned that the man they arrested was also a suspect in numerous felony crimes in nearby jurisdictions. He was also a suspect in a homicide in a neighbouring town and accused of aggravated robbery involving the Toyota SUV in Moraine, Ohio.
