This 1948 Chevrolet 3100 pickup was purchased by the seller in 2018, and a subsequent build completed in 2020 involved converting the cab from a a three-window to a five-window configuration as well as installing a 5.3-liter Vortec V8 along with a 4L60E four-speed automatic transmission and a Ford 8.8″ rear end. The chassis was modified with a Mustang II-style front suspension system with tubular control arms as well as a triangulated rear four-link suspension setup and adjustable coilovers at all four corners. Inside, the bench seat is trimmed in brown vinyl and accompanied by a seat-top console, a Vintage Air under-dash air conditioning system, a RetroSound stereo unit, a tilt steering column, and Dakota Digital gauges. Additional equipment includes a chrome grille, black running boards, a wood bed floor, a rear-mounted fuel tank, power rack-and-pinion steering, power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes, and 15″ steel wheels with baby-moon hubcaps and whitewall tires. This modified Advance Design pickup is now offered with build photos and an Arizona title in the seller’s name.
The truck is finished in green, and the cab was converted from a three-window to a five-window configuration in 2019 before being refinished. Details include a chrome grille and bumpers, black running boards, and a wood bed floor with black runners and a flush-mounted fuel filler for the rear-mounted fuel tank. The truck rides on a Mustang II-style front suspension assembly with tubular control arms, a triangulated rear four-link assembly, and adjustable coilovers at all four corners. The truck has power rack-and-pinion steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted four-wheel discs. Black-finished 15″ steel wheels wear baby-moon hubcaps and are wrapped in whitewall radial tires.
The cab houses a bench seat upholstered in brown vinyl, along with coordinated door inserts and black carpeting. Interior appointments include a seat-top console, a RetroSound stereo, and a Vintage Air under-dash air conditioning unit.
The three-spoke steering wheel is mounted to a Flaming River tilt column and frames a pair of Dakota Digital multi-gauges housing a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, dual digital displays, and readouts for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and voltage. The digital odometer indicates approximately 20k miles have been added since the build was completed in 2020.
The 5.3-liter Vortec V8 was installed in 2019 and features a custom engine cover and coil covers as well as a fabricated air intake. The firewall is covered with a smooth panel, and the aluminum radiator is accompanied by an electric fan.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4L60E four-speed automatic transmission and a Ford 8.8″ rear end with a limited-slip differential. Stainless headers feed into a dual exhaust system.
