Going out for snacks and coming home with a kitten sounds like a pretty successful trip to us.

A few nights ago, one couple was heading to their local Dollar General when they spotted a tiny kitten hanging out on the side of the road. Naturally, they had to stop and see if they could make a new friend. The little guy wasn't interested just yet, though, and quickly ran away.

They continued on to the store, grabbed their snacks, and headed home. Somehow, the kitten was still there when they came back. This time, the husband gave befriending him a shot, but he was still too scared to come close.

Then they remembered something very important: there was randomly a can of wet cat food sitting in their backseat.

Apparently, Wizard has his priorities straight. All that stranger danger disappeared once dinner entered the conversation, and that was all it took to win him over. We'd say keeping emergency cat food in the car paid off pretty well.

The timing made his arrival even more special. Exactly six months earlier, his new pawrent had lost her 16-year-old girl to kidney failure. She joked that she thought it would take her old girl a little longer to "train" her new sidekick, but six months was enough time to send the right kitten her way.

And Wizard didn't just win over the humans. The resident cats already love him, and even the dogs have accepted the newcomer as one of their own. For a kitten who was too scared to approach anyone on the side of the road, he settled into family life pretty quickly.

He's now officially Wizard, with the equally important nickname Itty Bitty Wizzy Kitty. We support both.
