Just moved into a ~250sqft (rented) room, and need to set it up to be a bedroom slash office slash chill with friends area. First few pics are of the space, then the room measurements, and pics after that are just some styles I saw and liked.
There’s a few issues I have with the space that I can’t figure out. Being a rental I can’t really paint and don’t want to do long term furniture or installations.
That said, the walls are a warmish white, the floors are dark warm vinyl, and everything feels too warm and empty. The furniture that I have is also short and black so the whole thing feels bottom heavy. On top of that, the bay window and the window by the bed have massive trim the same color as the walls, so they look blocky and complicated yet empty at the same time.
What I was thinking was desk in the bay window, slat walls (they shipped too narrow so I need to widen), on one wall and dresser by slat walls with tv on top. But the lighting sucks with the desk in the window, and there doesn’t feel like there’s any room for a couch or seating. There’s also only like 2 places I can fit a bed and they either block the closet or extend in front of the cubby, which I was gonna use as a replacement closet.
Also all the furniture feels too small for the room, except the desk which feels way too big? And is a different wood color than anything else.
Overall, I guess I would love any layout opinions. I’d love to fit in: -bed, -desk (60in) and chair, -dresser (48in), and work around the bay windows and a radiator. But idk what configuration works without a ton of empty space in the middle of the room but not enough to fit any seating. It would be super cash money to have a tv on one of the open walls and an open backed couch opposite.
Lastly, idk what accent color to use. I was thinking maybe navy to counter the warm wall/floor and green from some plants?
Any tips?
