Fall is knocking at the door, and a bunch of great book clubs have announced their September selections, from a blockbuster book’s sequel to an atmospheric horror gothic. The list is perfect for finding a lot of books to add to your TBR, and it’s worth following along with the book clubs—all of which have virtual components—for author chats and/or final discussions. With a range of book clubs, some that focus on highlighting traditionally marginalized voices and others focused on genre, now is a great time to join a book club and find a community of book lovers.
September’s selections are deliciously all over the map, giving readers all the book flavors. If you’ve yet to read the highly praised Martyr!, Silvia Moreno-Garcia’s most popular novel, or a Steinbeck classic, now can be your time. Also of note, Liane Moriarty is back with a super anticipated sequel to Big Little Lies, there’s an essay collection with an excellent title and cover, a time loop horror novel, nonfiction about reality TV, a near-future dystopia, an intense horror novel set in an imagined Russia, and more! About the book club: Dawnshaeé Reid is a self-proclaimed eclectic blogger who created this book club, prioritizing Black authors. It aims to highlight a wide range of genres. There’s an in-person, once-a-month meeting option if you’re in Louisville, KY, and a virtual option that meets on the last Tuesday of every month.

Literally Dead Book ClubKiss Slay Replay by Rachel Harrison
The host of the very popular BooksandLala YouTube channel also hosts a monthly book club focused on mystery, thriller, and horror novels. Co-hosts join in for a live show on her YouTube channel at the start of the following month to discuss the book.
