Every time I go to a bookstore they always have a nonfiction history section and then the regular general fiction section, but never a historical fiction section. They'll have designated sections for scifi and fantasy, but never historical fiction. It's frustrating to me because I always have to wade through the shelves of a bunch of books I know won't interest me to find the one historical fiction book randomly on the shelf
Do people not read historical fiction anymore? I find a lot of modern day fiction books boring and prefer to read scifi, fantasy, and historical fiction. The first two are very easy to find books for because they have a designated section, but historical fiction never seems to have one and I find it very sad
Edit: Thank you all for your comments and please feel free to keep commenting. 😊 I made this post while at the bookstore frustrated that there wasn't a historical fiction section. You guys have made some very good points as to why that is and why it would be hard for stores and libraries to create a historical fiction section. I did also find a historical fiction book in the general fiction section while at the bookstore, making this a successful trip!
