I've started playing chess on Lichess and I queue up for 10+5. I'm fairly slow considering I'm new and also have a mental barrier when it comes to making moves, so I figured that 10+5 is a good time control since i'll have time to think but also it be urgent enough that I don't just sit and do nothing.

But without fail, nearly every game, my opponent gets angry that I'm slow and tells me to go play 30 minutes or something. I don't think I spend an unreasonable amount of time to think, maybe 30 seconds to a minute and sometimes 2 minutes if I'm really stuck. Meanwhile my opponents are instant playing and barely go under 9 minutes, which I'm sure a better player could exploit.

But to be fair to my opponents, there are a few games that I've lost on time and maybe that is unsatisfying to my opponent. But also we're all at like 700-800 so maybe we should just take the win lol

I'm just confused as to whether or not I should be playing 10+5 or if I'm missing something. I just don't get why queue up for 10 minute games if you're going to play them like a 5 minute or 1 minute game and get mad when I want to use my 10 minutes to think.
