League of Legends: Wild Rift is preparing to close out 2026 with a sizeable new update, as Patch 7.3: Center Stage arrives on September 22 with three new champions, major gameplay changes, another Ranked overhaul and a brand-new 3v3v3 mode.
Center Stage has a strong music theme running through it, but the headline additions are likely to be the arrival of Hwei, Sylas and Rek’Sai, alongside the introduction of Rift Rumble.
The update will also bring changes to minions, Smite and Epic monsters, as Riot continues to tinker with the overall pace of Wild Rift matches.
Hwei, Sylas and Rek’Sai join Wild RiftHwei, the Visionary, will bring his sizeable collection of spells to the mid lane, giving players plenty of options for both dealing damage and supporting teammates.
The champion’s biggest appeal is his versatility, with his wide range of abilities allowing him to adapt to different situations rather than being locked into a single predictable playstyle.
Sylas, the Unshackled, is also joining Wild Rift as a burst-focused mage. His defining ability remains his ultimate, which allows him to steal an opposing champion’s ultimate and use it himself.
That should make him particularly dangerous in the right hands, especially against team compositions built around powerful ultimates.
Rounding out the new arrivals is Rek’Sai, the Void Burrower. The fighter is designed to tunnel around the Rift, initiate fights and relentlessly hunt down opponents.
Rift Rumble brings 3v3v3 battles to Wild RiftPatch 7.3 will also introduce Rift Rumble, a completely new game mode built around three teams of three players fighting on a symmetrical map.
Unlike a traditional Wild Rift match, the emphasis is firmly on combat rather than pushing lanes and destroying towers.
Players will also be able to make use of Augment Stones, which can significantly alter or enhance champion abilities and potentially create some particularly ridiculous combinations as matches progress.
It sounds like the sort of mode that could work nicely when you fancy Wild Rift without committing to the usual structure of a full match.
AAA ARAM is also getting in on the Center Stage theme with a music-focused season and dozens of additional Augment cards.
Riot is changing the pace of matchesThe main Wild Rift battlefield is receiving a number of adjustments designed to keep games moving.
Super minions and cannon minions will become stronger, making it more difficult for defending teams to simply ignore an incoming wave. Destroying an enemy turret will also grant allied minions additional Attack Damage, helping successful pushes maintain their momentum.
Smite is getting reworked too.
Instead of its previous bonuses, Smite will now apply persistent burning True Damage that scales with the player’s stats.
Epic monsters are also becoming tougher thanks to increased resistances, potentially making objectives more contested and encouraging teams to properly fight over them rather than simply rushing in for a quick kill.
Ranked changes continue in Patch 7.3Riot introduced substantial Ranked changes with Patch 7.2, and Center Stage will continue that work.
The scoring system is being adjusted so player performance and overall impact are assessed with greater consideration for the lane and champion role being played.
Strong performances can then provide additional Ranked Energy, with the aim of doing a better job of recognising players who have genuinely contributed to a match.
Legendary Ranked is getting changes of its own, including a simplified seasonal entry threshold for former Grandmaster players.
A new trial system will also allow high-performing players to potentially progress through Legendary Commander more quickly.
The new Ranked season will include a Milio skin as a reward, while the next Wild Pass features the wonderfully named Pencil Sharpener Kog’Maw.
Wild Rift Patch 7.3 skinsOther skins confirmed for Center Stage include Winterblessed Hwei and a special Worlds Volibear skin.
The currently announced Patch 7.3 skins are:
- Pencil Sharpener Kog’Maw
- Ranked Reward Milio
- Special Worlds Volibear
- Winterblessed Hwei
Riot is also looking beyond the patch itself to Wild Rounds: SMASH 2026, which will take place in Korea in November.
The event will bring Wild Rift players from around the world together for competitive play and community activities as Riot rounds out another year for its mobile MOBA.
