Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins recently spoke about the Paramount-Warner Bros. merger. Many actors, directors, and other industry professionals have expressed concerns about the merger since news of it first broke, with thousands signing an open letter opposing it.

According to a report by Variety Magazine, she didn’t seem to be in favor of the merger and said, “It’s such chaos. I think the studio system is in such bad shape that I’m kind of tuning it out.” Jenkins was also asked if she would make a movie for Paramount CEO David Ellison once the merger is complete.
The director didn’t deny the possibility and stated, “I never say no to anything because so many people have different projects. Something may come along, and they’ve been making some great films, and who knows.” Despite mentioning that the merger is not a good sign for the studio system, Jenkins seemed hopeful that original projects will still thrive in the future.
Jenkins and Warner Bros.’s relationship has reportedly been strained after the failure of Wonder Woman 1984. This led to the cancellation of a third Wonder Woman movie. In 2024, Jenkins was asked about the status of Wonder Woman 3 and whether it is done, and she revealed on a podcast, “Yeah, for the time being, but probably easily forever.” She also said no other director has expressed interest in reviving the project, as the studio is not ready to do “any Wonder Woman for the time being” (via Deadline).
James Gunn has also not provided any concrete updates on a Wonder Woman project in the DCU. However, there are speculations that Adria Arjona has been cast as the Amazonian.
