Hyundai’s Performance Blue is an office favorite here at Top Gear Philippines. It’s proven to suit just about any silhouette—from the subcompact i20 to the monstrous Ioniq 5 N EV. However, the Korean carmaker has just pulled the sheets off a new Monochrome colorway, and our true blue loyalty is being challenged.

The all-black look debuts on the sharp and speedy Elantra N Monochrome, also known as the i30 Sedan N in other markets. As the name implies, the entire shell has been darkened, with color-matching finishes on its garnishes.

Hyundai has also given the Elantra N Monochrome a new set of wheels that look more modern and subtle than the standard rims we’re familiar with. The retooled spoiler and mirror covers, both of which are made of carbon fiber, complete the exterior.

Inside, the cabin has been blacked out as well, with alcantara finishes on the steering wheel and other prominent surfaces. The upholstery and the gearshift feature stitching in what looks like Performance Blue, which is just chef’s kiss.

Interestingly, Hyundai will offer this new Elantra in Performance Blue as well, keeping the darkened garnishes and interior. If the full murdered-out treatment isn’t quite your thing, maybe that’s the sports sedan for you.

However, that all-black finish keeps stealing glances and second looks. While we wait for the Elantra N Monochrome to hit the Philippines—it’s scheduled for South Korea, Canada, and Australia first—let us know if you’d choose black over blue. Until then, enjoy more photos.
