Bangladesh were rocked early on the opening day of the second Test by a fiery spell from Mitchell Starc, who took only 22 balls to pick up a five-wicket haul. None of the top six batters could register double figures as the visitors were bundled out for a mere 64. Starc finished with 6-12, while Pat Cummins got 3-25.
The hosts started off on a jittery note as Matt Renshaw and Marnus Labuschagne were skittled for low scores. Shoriful Islam picked up 7-48, but Australia still managed a lead of 146, credits to Steve Smith (42) and Cameron Green (67).
A 27-run partnership between skipper Najmul Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim was the highest the visitors could grind out in the second innings, and were kept down to 95. Starc picked 4-39, ending with 10 wickets in the match, while Cummins had 3-10 and Nathan Lyon 3-25.
