Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle are all set to collide two Marvel universes ahead of Avengers: Secret Wars. The five-issue Incursions one-shot series revisits the events leading up to Marvel’s 2015 Secret Wars comic-book event, with each issue bringing different realities into conflict.
X-Men ’92: Incursions #1, written by Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost and illustrated by Salva Espin, hits shelves in January. The issue will pit two popular versions of the X-Men against each other. The story pits the ’90s team from X-Men: The Animated Series against the mutant teen heroes of X-Men: Evolution. Since the two series took different approaches to their characters, the crossover could offer an intriguing look at how the teams respond to alternate versions of themselves.
The synopsis of the upcoming issue reads, “The X-Men of the 90s must save their world! But can they do so when it means destroying another world in the process? Especially one filled with younger versions of themselves who still have hope for Xavier’s dream?”

Yost and Kyle wrote multiple episodes of X-Men: Evolution, which aired from 2000 to 2003. They were responsible for the creation of X-23, who went on to become an important member of not just Wolverine’s story but also the X-Men mythos.
The one-shot that is X-Men ’92: Incursions #1 will reunite the duo. They have worked on other acclaimed series like X-Force as well.
On reuniting with Yost, Kyle stated, “Chris and I wrote our very first script together on X-Men: Evolution. It was called ‘X-23,’ and it changed both of our lives. But we’re comic fans first. This is our first story together in 15 years, and returning to the Evo kids a quarter-century later to tell the biggest story of their lives, in the pages of Marvel Comics, is a dream and an honor.”
Yost also said he had a “blast” reuniting with Kyle and thanked fans for their continued love for X-Men: Evolution.
