Your laptop probably has two or three USB-C ports, and they all look exactly alike. Plug a cable into any of them,and it works, which makes it easy to assume they all perform equally. But laptop makers don't wire every port the same way, even when the connectors are identical. Only one typically handles everything USB-C can actually do.
